They say time heals all wounds, but they never tell you how loud the silence becomes when the person who filled your life is suddenly gone.
I didn’t just lose my wife , I lost my better half, my peace, my home. I lost the person who made life feel lighter even on the hardest days.
Now I come home to a house that no longer feels warm.
No smell of food cooking in the kitchen.
No fresh laundry neatly folded.
No soft voice asking how my day was.
Just quiet.
The kind of quiet that screams.
I miss her smile , the one that welcomed me every evening after a long day at work. That smile used to wash away my stress. Now I carry it with me in memories that both comfort and break me.
She left me with two beautiful children, a daughter and a son. They are my strength, but they are also a reminder of what we built together. When I look at them, I see her eyes, her kindness, her love living on. And while I’m grateful, the pain doesn’t disappear.
Some nights I lie awake wondering how life can continue when a part of me is missing. How do you move forward when your heart is stuck in the past? How do you smile when everything that made you happy is now a memory?
People tell me to be strong.
But they don’t understand , strength doesn’t mean the pain is gone. It just means I wake up every day and keep going for my children.
I am learning to live with the ache.
Learning to cook, to clean, to be both mother and father.
Learning to be whole again when I feel broken.
Moving on doesn’t mean forgetting her.
It means carrying her love with me while I build a new normal for our kids.
Some days are harder than others.
Some days the grief feels fresh.
But for my daughter. For my son. I rise.
Because even though my wife is gone, her love still lives in our children and in my heart.
And maybe one day, the house will feel warm again.
Not the same.
But filled with strength, healing, and hope.
