The Night I Escaped Death Without Knowing

I was at the tavern with my friends when a guy came up to me and started talking. It was innocent, just small talk in a loud place. Then out of nowhere, a woman stormed toward us and barked at me, “Move away from my husband.”

I didn’t argue. I stepped back and walked away, confused but unbothered. I thought it was just jealousy.

The next day, the truth punched me in the chest. That same woman… the one who yelled at me… killed her boyfriend and cut out his heart.

I froze. My blood went cold. I realized I had been standing next to a man who would not live to see another day and a woman capable of unthinkable violence.

That night taught me one thing: you never know the battles people are fighting behind closed doors. You never know the storms hiding inside another person’s smile. And sometimes, walking away isn’t weakness it’s survival.

I didn’t just walk away from drama that night.

I walked away from death itself.
