Authorities have arrested a foreign national after she was allegedly found in possession of a South African identity document belonging to someone else.
The arrest was made during a routine inspection when officials became suspicious of the woman’s documents. Upon closer investigation, it was discovered that the South African ID card she was carrying did not belong to her. The rightful owner of the identity document has since been traced and confirmed that they had not given anyone permission to use their personal information.
Police have opened a case of fraud and identity theft. The woman is expected to appear in court soon, where she may also face additional charges related to immigration violations.
