My Mother Chose Her Boyfriend Over Us — Her Own Children

I was still a child when I learned a painful lesson:

sometimes the person who gives you life can also be the one who abandons you.

When my mother met him, everything changed.

Before him, we were her world.

After him, we became a problem.

She stopped listening when we spoke.

Stopped caring when we cried.

Stopped coming home when we were hungry.

But she always had time for him.

She would laugh with him while we slept hungry.

She would defend him while we were being hurt.

She would choose him every single time.

One night she packed her bags.

Not for work. Not for a visit.

She left.No goodbye.

No explanation.

Just empty rooms and broken hearts.

We waited by the door for days, believing our mother would come back.

She never did.

We asked ourselves: “Were we not good enough?”

“Were we too much?”

“Why did she love him more than us?”

But the truth was painful .she didn’t leave because she couldn’t take care of us.

She left because she didn’t want to choose us.

A man was more important than her own children.

We grew up fast.We learned hunger. We learned pain.

We learned how to wipe our own tears.

While she was playing happy family somewhere else,

we were surviving.

The saddest thing about abandonment is not the leaving

it’s knowing you were replaced.By a boyfriend.By comfort.By a choice.

And even today, the pain still sits in my chest like a stone.

Because no child should ever have to compete with a grown man for their mother’s love.

But we did.

And we lost.

Yet somehow… we survived.

Some children are raised by love.

Others are raised by pain.

We were raised by abandonment and it made us stronger, but forever scarred.
