Hormones imbalance

Hormones can feel "messed up" when they are out of balance, and this can happen for many reasons. Here are some common causes to consider:

1. Lifestyle and Stress

  • High stress → stress can course your hormones to be unbalanced.
  • Poor sleep → problem sleeping or sleeping less than 6 hours.
  • Poor diet or nutrient deficiencies → lack of protein, healthy fats, or key vitamins/minerals affects hormone production.

2. Medical Conditions

  • Thyroid issues (hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism)
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
  • Diabetes or insulin resistance
  • Adrenal fatigue or chronic stress

3. Natural Changes

  • Puberty or menopause/perimenopause
  • Pregnancy or postpartum changes
  • Aging — natural hormonal shifts happen with age

4. Medications or Chemicals

  • Birth control pills or hormone therapy can alter levels.
  • Exposure to endocrine disruptors (plastics, pesticides, cosmetics with certain chemicals).

5. Other Triggers

  • Rapid weight gain or loss
  • Over-exercising or under-exercising
  • Chronic illness or inflammation

Signs of Hormonal Imbalance

  • Irregular periods or missed periods
  • Sudden weight gain or loss
  • Fatigue or brain fog
  • Mood swings, anxiety, or depression
  • Hair loss or excessive hair growth
  • Skin issues like acne or dryness
